Misunderstanding

During a meeting,

Participant: This function is not included in the system, right?

Presenter: Yes, you are right.

Presenter carries on with presentation.

Participant: Excuse me, earlier you mentioned that this function will be in the system.

Presenter: Which function?

Participant: Earlier I asked about the function in the system.

Presenter: Yes, I did reply to your question.

Participant: You said the function will be in the system.

Presenter: No, I did not.

Participant: But earlier you did reply yes?

Presenter: You were asking me the question ending with a “right”, so I replied your question by agrees with your statement. Yes, you are right. I don’t mean yes to the function is included in the system.

Participant: Sorry.

The whole meeting room had an awkward moment of silent.

Moral of the story, ask your question clearly and listen for the answer carefully, don’t just listen to the first part and make your own assumptions for the remaining of the answer.
